In April 2009, the Board of Education approved spending a portion of the "state-wide-penny" revenue to construct an auditorium for the Perry Community School District. The Perry Performing Arts Center is a 20,000 sq. ft., 638-seat auditorium completed in February 2011. The lower seating section is traditional auditorium style with a sloped floor (seats 382), and the upper level incorporates stepped stadium style seating (seats 256).
The facility features a large 83’ x 36’ stage, a full fly system with 11 line sets for ease of moving sets on and off stage, men’s and women’s dressing rooms with theatrical lighting, a large set shop, several storage rooms for Drama, Band and Choir, grand piano storage room, sound shell storage room, a large conference room, and public rest rooms. The complex also includes a large lobby with a glass atrium, and a court yard area outside the main entrance. A closed circuit TV system feeds audio and video to the lobby, dressing rooms, set shop, and green room.
